Bay Area's Best Kept Secret:
Boarders at the historic Folger Stable know a secret that Bay Area horse owners are beginning to discover: This full-service equine boarding facility, located on almost a thousand acres in the County of San Mateo’s Wunderlich Park, combines the look and feel of history with amenities that meet the needs of today’s knowledgeable horse owners.

Folger Stable is unique among buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, offering public horse boarding and riding opportunities in the midst of a public park surrounded by the exclusive estates of Woodside. Built in 1904 during the "Great Estates" era, it was donated to the County of San Mateo in 1974, listed in the National Register of Historic places in 2004, and an eight-year renovation project was completed in 2010, when it was re-opened to the public.

Experienced Management and On-Site Supervision:
Management by Bay Area Equestrian Connection combines the experience and expertise from their numerous bay area boarding facilities. Offering on-site supervision and security. Boarding rates vary by specific barn and services, from $750 per month and up.

San Mateo County's Last Remaining Boarding Facility on Public Land:
There is no other equestrian facility on public land in San Mateo County. Trail riding gets no better than this! There are miles of beautiful towering redwoods, open vistas, and abundant wildlife. On the peninsula, there are few places to ride without conflict with vehicular traffic or mountain bikes. In addition, many other key trail systems and parks can be accessed from this facility.” ~Donna Poy, cofounder of Woodside Day of the Horse

Folger Stable has 30 stalls open to the public for boarding.  Our features include:

  • Direct access to 17 miles of all weather trails. See Map (no dogs & no bikes)
  • Large outdoor arena with excellent drainage
  • 15 winterized turnouts
  • Multiple wash racks (including hot wash)
  • Spacious tack room areas
  • High quality care
  • Porta Grazers in Turnouts for extra safety

Horses at Folger Stable may be boarded in one of four different general areas. These areas include the main barn, main barn wing, annex, upper barn and back upper barn. All stalls have automatic water systems, include shavings, stall cleaning and grass hay fed twice daily.

Call us at (650) 529-1028 to schedule a tour.  Drop-ins and visitors are welcome. Please park in the general public lot. For your safety and that of our horses, do not enter "Boarder Only" areas without staff escort.
